How does this detect a shadowban?
A shadowbanned account's profile shows "page not found" to logged-out visitors while you can still see it when logged in. Suspended accounts show a suspension notice instead. If your profile loads but your posts show as [removed] when logged out, that is Reddit's spam filter or a subreddit's AutoModerator, not an account shadowban. The checker walks you through both logged-out checks and turns your answers into a verdict.
Why not just look the account up automatically?
Reddit now blocks other websites from reading account data, both from your browser and from servers, so no page can see your profile the way a logged-out visitor does. Opening the profile yourself in a private window is the reliable test, and it takes under a minute.
Why might my account look unhealthy if I'm not banned?
New accounts (under 30 days) and low karma both flag here even when you are not banned. The score is health-broad, not just shadowban-specific.
Can this give false positives?
Yes. A mistyped username looks like a missing profile, and an account with no recent posts cannot be tested at the content level. Before reading "page not found" as a shadowban, confirm the profile loads for you while logged in.
Do you store my username?
No. The visibility checks happen in your own browser. For the health score we send the username once to our server to look up public karma and account age we may already have; we do not save it.
